Asensio makes a crazy request to Real Madrid
The future of Marco Asensio remains one of Florentino Perez’s pending accounts. In all, Real Madrid will have to face the renewal of up to 6 players whose contract expires this year, once it is known that Mariano Diaz will not continue with the white entity.
Asensio’s contract expires on June 30, 2023 and he has not yet agreed to renew it. He’s been a real flop and his performance has been up and down all season.
Asensio wants more fame
His agent, Jorge Mendes, may have also filled his head and destabilized the Spanish winger’s environment. But now, Asensio seems to have gotten it quite clear, and so has Real Madrid. He wants to stay and the white team wants to keep counting on him, he’s a luxury replacement.
Exactly, changing the secondary role he enjoys is Marco Asensio’s condition. He wants to appear more in the plans of Carlo Ancelotti, or in the plans of the next coach of Real Madrid, because, let us remember, the continuation of the Italian coach next season is not at all clear yet.
But that is not the only requirement for Asensio who wants to be a better value player in the squad and that, for him and his agent, translates to more money.
It is true that Florentino is offering him an upward renewal, however, it does not seem to be enough for the former Mallorca player, who demanded a big star salary to continue.
Crazy request
It is not for us to decide whether or not Asensio deserves a renewal at the level of a superstar, like his colleague Vinicius (which he has already demanded in terms of playing time and salary). What is very clear, according to his numbers, is that February had a meaningful before and after.
In 15 matches he managed to score 7 goals, either as a substitute or as a starter. But the truth is that he has always done his homework by scoring goals. He proved himself in every minute that Ancelotti gave him.
As is logical, seeing his performance in the latter part of the season, there are many teams who would love to get his services for free.
Asensio showed he wanted to continue, with some gestures, like that celebration in front of Barcelona pointing to the shield. He and Florentino will have to sit down and negotiate for the good of both.
